St Cere is a picturesque old town situated at the eastern end of the Dordogne Valley. It is situated on the River Bave, a tributary of the Dordogne, which it joins at Bretenoux 8kms north-east of St Cere.
It is overlooked by the medieval "Tours de St Laurent" which is illuminated at night with magical effect.
About 20kms west of St Cere is the spectacular village of Rocamadour, situated on a steep rock face dominated by a 14 Century castle.
Other places of interest within easy reach are Sarlat (world famous as the home of pate de fois gras). Souillac a busy town and old river crossing. The river is now used for swimming, fishing and canoeing (many for hire).
Very close by is the Gouffre de Padirac, a huge crater 90 metres wide and deep, caused by the collape of a cave, which is now descended by lift. Must be seen to be fully appreciated.
In the next valley is Autoire, a picturesque village which is officialy one of France's prettiest villages. Through the village the road goes through a steep gorge with more caves and spectacular scenery.

We had a fabulous time in Saint Cere, the house is lovely and a perfect distance to enjoy the many bars & restaurants in the town or to enjoy the peace and quiet at the house.
The house is amazingly well equipped. It really was a home from home.
We would love to visit again !!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The location is peaceful and feels 'off the beaten track' and yet St Cere being within walking distance means easy access to shops and main roads to keep the holiday ticking along!.
The views are magnificent, the house is comfortable and very well equipped (we tried desperately to think of something that wasnt provided - we failed to do so!)
- the conservatory means you can enjoy the views in all weathers
- the British TV means in a moment of weakness you can check who won Big Brother!.
- the footpath to St Cere gives an opportunity to see lots of creatures (we saw a Preying Mantis, a snake, buzzards, grasshoppers etc)
- access to a washing machine means you don't have to spend the holiday nagging the kids about dribbles!
It was great, thanks for having us!

Your house at La Meynardie is superb. The views, especially are stunning and it was always nice to return there after a hard day's sight-seeing and to sit in the garden with a glass of wine.
Our holiday has been excellent and your house is certainly comfy, well equipped and it suited us perfectly. We would definitely recommend it to other people should they want to discover the beauties of the Dordogne/Quercy/Lot area.

We had a lovely holiday. The cottage was clean, well decorated, comfortable and very well situated and we all enjoyed our stay there very much. The views in the evening are so beautiful: I am missing them already!
We had a great holiday and would gladly return in the future.
We had a very good time at La Meynardie. The house is very comfortable, very well equiped and the area is beautiful!
The house and gardens were well equipped and made for a comfortable holiday.
We walked into St. Cere a lot during our stay and the track below the field was perfect for pushchairs. It will be great when the owners manage to put a path across the field though as the grass was very high!
We did lots of walking during our stay - the views of the surrounding area were beautiful. You just can't beat sitting on the garden terrasse with a glass of wine watching the sunset!
Lovely quiet location, ideally situated outside St Cere, but within walking distance, although route across field into town unclear and therefore had to walk part way along main road.
Facilities in house and garden excellent- everything you could wish for. An enjoyable week all round.
