Location very pleasant. Condition of the object not too good - the bathroom a bit dirty, cobwebs in the middle, it was problematic to put bedding from and to Chamonix. The cistern in the toilet was stuck, the electric kettle did not connect - it was necessary to keep it to boil water.

The location was beautiful with stunning views and lots of privacy. The house was in need of some renovation internally. Especially the kitchen and bathroom. Double bed had a very thin mattress. We certainly did not disturb us, but these could be points for improvement.

We knew the home was billed as 1 star but we're an outdoorsy family and have roughed it before. This was not roughing it and we found the space enough for 5 including teenagers x 3 from 14 to 19 in age range. Spacious outside area and balconys with lovely views of woods or mountains. We did not have a car but found the local village hospitable and fine for supplies at freindly local store (about 10 minute walk). Free train travel was fab and allowed us to hop in and out of Chamonix at will and gave us a discount at the swimming pool too. 5 minute walk to station. If there are a number of you, don't expect privacy indoors! Sound carries into most rooms and the wood contracts at times in the heat...35 degrees when we were there. (Not complaining just makes an occasional thud). Downstairs the kitchen is pretty well equipped with coffee machine, tempermental kettle, and gas/electric hobs and ovens. Enough utensils and as my daughter wanted the sofa to sleep on she used the utility cupboard as a wardrobe but washing machine and Hoover etc in there. Shower gave a good hot blast as and when needed. Toilet was bit faulty in that if you did not repress the flush button the ball ok would not stop water flow. Once used to it it was fine. Very clean. The downstairs clothes pegs were upturned hooves!! Not great for veggie wife and daughter!! Easily covered by clothes # upstairs the rooms were spacious for us as a couple and two sons to share. Plenty of storage. The neighbours were v welcoming too. All in all I would recommend this for a family like us, who don't want absolute luxury, are in a budget and like being away from the noise and hassle of big town life.
