Au milieu des vergers de pommiers et des champs de tournesols, Ventavon est un joli village fortifié autour de son église du XIIème et de son château du XVème dans les Hautes Alpes. La route Napoléon vous mènera vers cette villa de 1992 construite sur un terrain clos, aménagé et arboré de 1 500 m². Sur deux niveaux plein Sud sans le moindre vis-à-vis, elle a été parfaitement aménagée et entretenue : entrée sur porche couvert, hall d'entrée avec placard vestiaire et WC d'invités, séjour volume cathédrale ouvert sur la terrasse avec cheminée, cuisine ouverte équipée, une chambre parentale avec sa salle de bain. Au 1er étage, trois chambres dont deux avec placard, une salle d'eau et un WC. Les prestations sont de qualités : garage deux voitures avec grenier atelier et portes motorisées, piscine 7 par 3,5 m couverte et chauffée, portail et portillon télécommandé, 120 m² de terrasses, chauffage au sol sur les deux niveaux, cheminée foyer fermé avec distributeur de chaleur, adoucisseur, pergola, puits, aspersion sur le terrain et tout à l'égout ! The Villa is spacious and full of charcter yet is very comfortable and fully modernised. The location is very peaceful and quiet with superb scenery but the nearby towns of Laragne, Gap and Sisteron are all easily accessible (10mins, 30mins and 20mins respectively).

The surrounding area is an outdoor paradise. One of Europes best hang gliding and paragliding sites at Chabre, Laragne is visible from the main bedroom window and the landing field is less than 10 mins away.
The renowned climbing venue at Ventavon can also be seen from the house and provides endless opportunities for climbers of all abilities. Possibly the best sport climbing crag in the world Ceuse is 30 mins away. There are also numerous gliding clubs in the area. There is a lovely canoe trip nearby on the Durance River. Canoe hire is available.
Within the immediate area there is year round walking for all levels and the Ecrins Massif is 45mins away for some exhilarating Alpine walking with an abundance of flora and fauna.
The Serre Poncon lake is 30 minutes away with every type of watersport catered for. The climate boasts 300 sunny days a year to complement this.
The area also boasts the largest amount of mountain bike trails in France. Directly from the house there is some superb, safe cycling for all ages and abilities, the Tour de France came through here in July 2006 and 2007.
There is canoeing for all on the nearby Durance (10mins) and the best whitewater kayaking and rafting in Europe within an hour at Embrun on the Durance and the Ubaye valley is 45 mins away.
The nearby airfield at Tallard (20mins) caters for all types of aviation including microlighting, parachuting and skydiving.
In winter there are several ski resorts within 45minutes and other wintersports such as snowshoeing available.
Shops and restaurants
The nearby village of Le Poet has a boulangerie, post office and bar/tabac. In Laragne (10mins) there are two supermarkets open all day and sunday mornings in the summer. Laragne also has several traditional French restaurants, a Chinese and several pizzerias. At Tallard there is a renowned pizzeria set in a medieval building.
Gap is a large town which has a thorough range of shops and restaurants. To the south Aix-en-Provence is 45 minutes away with a direct motorway link.

A relaxing holiday. The house is as described. Owners had been present recently and kindly left some basic supplies for us. We took bicycles hoping to cycle to the local bar and boulongerie but were not very fit hills defeated us. We would consider returning in future.
Property is excellent, clean and well equipped. Small village off the beaten track but minutes from the nearest motorway. Great for flyers, you can see the take off with binoculars. Quiet and relaxing.
