Apartment overview - owner's description

On Rhône river. Historic building, fully furnished. 3 bedrms, sleeps 6. Huge terrace, satellite TV, fully equipped kitchen, broadband internet, WIFI, linen

This spacious flat is in the charming old town of Beaucaire, gateway to Provence, Languedoc and the Camargue. Its large private terrace faces the Rhône river, across the river from the town of Tarascon. The handsome stone building was originally a rich merchant's mansion, named Hôtel du Luxembourg. Recently renovated, the vacation rental apartment is quiet and sunny with 5 m (16 ft) high ceilings. It consists of three bedrooms, a living room, kitchen/dining room, a home office with broadband Internet and a WIFI signal, English-language satellite TV (with all major UK and US cable stations and special entertainment and Kid's packages) and a bathroom and separate toilet. It is within walking distance of all Beaucaire’s attractions, from the picturesque ruined castle to the lively canal promenade, as well as restaurants, cafés and shops. Only 15 km from Arles and Saint Rémy and 25 km from Avignon, Beaucaire is an ideal touring base from which to explore Provence, the Camargue, the Languedoc and much of the south of France. Nearby attractions include Roman amphitheaters, castles, medieval villages, Van Gogh landscapes, open-air markets, horse-riding, wine-tasting and boating. It’s a wonderful holiday rental for family and friends to enjoy historic Provence and the south of France combined with the comforts of home!

We had a enjoyable holiday at the Beaucaire apartment. It was fun to witness the local reaction to the wins by the French football team in the World Cup. The town of Beaucaire went wild! The apartment was as good and as well equiped as the website shows it to be, and parking was easy. The cable TV with all the English language programs was an enjoyable suprise. I especially enjoyed the computers, and I was able to use my laptop and Skype to phone home. We have visited this part of France many times and it is one of our favorite areas. Being based in Beaucaire, we were able to explore the surrounding countryside in great detail. The basket of maps and guide books was extremely helpful. We will recommend the apartment to our friends and we hope to stay there again someday.Charles A. Robinson, Lodi, CaliforniaWe have enjoy very much in our visit to Beaucaire, also the apartment was perfect. Thanks in advanceJose, Spain:The apartment was perfect and we enjoyed our holiday. We mixed business with pleasure and visited some interesting places and saw some interesting properties.Hoping to do business with you again sometime soon.Sean, Dublin Dear Madeleine and Barney,We had a really terrific time in Beaucaire. It's such a pretty place, and so well situated, with all of Provence and the Camargue within easy reach. We loved the appartment - so spacious, and full of light - and with excellent heating, which we had cause to be grateful for, as you're probably aware! Loved the parking area by the Casino, too - always stacks of space available, and so reassuring to know it's watched - there were. Hopefully we can rent it again in March 2007.Many thanks. Robyn & Geoff Beemer, Melbourne, Australia The appartment was lovely and we had a great time. The area is beautiful and Beaucaire is not 'touristy' which is great but it is very close to all the fabulous tourist spots like Avignon, Arles, Marseilles etc. We even drove to Carcassonne for the day. I have no hesitantion in recommending this apartmentKate Wandmaker, Dubbo Australia The apartment is beautiful, comfortable and spacious. The location is perfect for visiting many other charming towns. Parking was easy for us. Fleur was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay! Thanks so much!Suzanne and Jonathan, Princeton, NJ Dick and I had the perfect holiday week in Beaucaire. The apartment was charming, parking was easy and the local markets (in Beaucaire or nearby towns almost every day) were spectacular. This location was ideal for easy day trips and Beaucaire itself was not touristy so it felt very comfortable. Barney and Madeline have thought of every need for their guests; the kitchen, the internet access and the abundant tourist information and suggestions were very much appreciated. We will recommend this apartment to our friends and go back at the next opportunity. Thank you Barney and Madeline, you are wonderful hosts!Nina Brickman and Dick Dorsey, Breslau, OntarioWe had a delightful stay and I can't think of a thingthat would have improved our experience. The apartmentwas great. We truly enjoyed ourselves and intend torecommend it to our friends and family. Thanks again.Patrice & Michael, ColoradoDear MadeleineBeaucaire was a wonderful experience. We had a fantastic time in a fascinating place. We were delighted with the apartment, the place and the the experience - a very memorable holiday.thank-youPeter B, Northern Ireland, UK During the week we rented "My Beaucaire" apartment, we were in daily contact with Jim and his wife who were constantly concerned with our well-being. The clean, well-equipped, very comfortable apartment was well situated for easy day tours to Nimes, Arles, Avignon, Les Beau, etc. A car is definitely necessary, but parking was convenient and safe. One must be prepared for a "natural" Provencial village unmanicured for the usual tourist crowds and with minimumal local activities and shops. Although we experienced record-breaking heat, we were furnished with enough fans to make the apartment comfortable. The terrace and view of Tarascon castle across the river was wonderful, adding to our joyful week.Kay and Kurt Zscheile, Fort Collins, Colorado We have just returned from a 4 month trip to Europe and must say that the month we spent in Beaucaire is a highlight of our trip. We agree with all the comments made regarding the comfortand convenience of the flat and we were most impressed with the efficient management of the the whole setup.(booking, payments and contact with Fluer) While Beaucaire was not as "French" as would be expected, we found the history of the town, the multicultural nature of the town and the location all to be perfect. We were most impressed by the markets of the region, especially those of St Remy, and thoroughly enjoyed talking to the locals and being a part of rural France. We have already spread the word of this apartment to many of our friends and hope one day to be able to return ourselves .Pam and Jeff Dagg, Perth, Australia A weeks stay in Beaucaire was wonderful. Two couples is the right size and the flat was better than anticipated. It is well furnished and very inviting and warm. The terrace is an added bonus. A great central location to explore Provence and environs. We planned our daily trips around the market days and found that to be a real treat. Fleur was very helpful and we made some friends in the town and are exchanging photos.Thank you for a wonderful place to stay in a wonderful part of France.Rob Abrams, Portland, Oregon We'd just like to say that your flat was brilliant and exactly what we wanted with regard to location, size, comfort, etc., etc. (and let's not forget the price - though perhaps I shouldn't have said that!). We were very impressed by the fact that it looks just like the photos, what you see is most definitely what you get... We hope that our first stay in your flat will not be our last. We were both of the opinion that it was the best holiday flat we've ever stayed in, and we would recommend it to anyone without reservation. The wall hangings are fantastic by the way.As soon as we've worked out our plans for next year we'll be in touch. (March 2005)Peter UK/GermanyWe returned from France yesterday evening, having spent several days in Paris after leaving Beaucaire. We all had a wonderful time - the apartment was perfect. You certainly have done a lovely job of making it a welcoming and comfortable place to stay. I know that all four of us would happily return whenever we were able. Fleur was fabulous too - our flight down from Paris was cancelled, so by the time we finally arrived in Beaucaire we were many hours later than originally planned. She was there when we arrived, directed us to the apartment and gave us a very warm welcome. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation. Thanks again for helping to make it so! (March 2005)Christine, Canada The other posted comments all ring true. Beyond that the owner even upgraded the ADSL so it could handle my Vonageinternet phone. I used one of the 3 bedrooms as an office for a workingvacation - not disturbed by my kids in the other rooms. The terrace is private meaning that it's for your own use, but it is off aa common-access walkway in the building. It's next to, but doesn't leadinto the appartment. I mention this because I couldn't see this from the photosand had wrongly thought that I might be able to open the door and let little kidswander in and out. Of course, this is hardly a subtraction; How many other placesgive you your own large terrace?Mostly Beaucaire is a great base for visiting the surrounds. But itself isinteresting. It's not a cute tourist village. It's a "real" southern town. There are centuries-old private mansions from when there was wealth in town, some faded facades and basic shops(but watch out for opening hours). Whenneeded, we found a doctor a few blocks away. A Carrefour hypermarket is afew minutes away by car. Louis Pollock, ParisWhile waiting for our own property to beready, we have just ended a 10-week stay atthe appartment. It is everything described inthe previous comments: beautiful, spacious,well-kept, with friendly owners and localmanager. A perfect spot from which toorganize day trips in Provence andLanguedoc. A great market in Tarascon onTuesdays, even greater one in Arles onSaturdays. Don't miss the SouleiadoMuseum in Tarascon! All in all, a marvelousfind. Robert & Lucie Bourges, Capestang, France We spent 5 nights in October 2004 as part of a 3-week trip through southern France with another couple. We found the accomodations perfect for two couples. Fleur greeted us warmly and did all within her power to make sure that our stay was enjoyable. We really appreciated having lunch on the terrace, the access to high-speed internet, being able to wash clothes and listen to favorite CDs on the stereo while we relaxed with a good book. Shopping at the markets and cooking dinner with such fresh ingredients was a nice change from dining out every night. It became our home away from home, and then we had to leave! We would definitely return -- and stay longer.Gary & Bev Yonge, Seattle, Washington I spent 2 weeks in Beaucaire. It was wonderful! The flat is beautiful and very well maintained. The town is so cute and perfectly situated for exploring the region. I would return in a heartbeat!Kathy , Washington, DC, USA We have just spent a week in Beaucaire. We have rented apartments throughout Europe, the US and Australia. This apartment is much larger than it looks in the photos. The owners and the caretaker are geuinely caring and generous with support and information. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. We travelled with two children under 4 years old - not a party normally welcomed by rental apartments, but the owners assisted us with a cot and the caretaker surprised us with a highchair and toys. A beautiful apartment well located to all of Provence with owners who genuinely want you to enjoy your stay.Michelle Wade, Malaysia i just wanted to let you know how much we lovedour stay in beaucaire. in spite of how well thewebsite describes the apartment, it was stillshockingly beautiful when we got there. we were agroup of 5 college graduates on a 3-week "seniortrip" that included paris, prague, and hiking ininterlaken, switzerland; yet beaucaire stood out asperhaps the highlight of the trip. it was great toescape the hostels we had been staying at for therest of the trip. we visited the roman aqueduct, avignon and its castle and famous bridge, nimesand its amphitheater, the beach an hour to thesouth, and a winery, and generally had a reallyrelaxing time. on a 3-week "senior trip" thatincluded paris, prague, and hiking in switzerland, beaucaire stood out as perhaps the highlight of thetrip for its unique way of keeping you busy andentertained but not tiring you out. thanks from meand my friends!Jeremy Baskin, Montreal, Canada We are a family of 4 (15-year old daughter, 10-year old son). We just (June 2004) spent a lovely week in Beaucaire as part of a longer trip. It was the nicest vacation rental unit I have ever rented. The beds were new and comfortable (and my daughter loved having her own room, not usually true on our vacations), the kitchen was well stocked with appliances and utensils (we largely ate by shopping locally and cooking in the apt; the shopping was itself an education for the kids), the computer made everyone happy. We had rented a car for the week (parking is not a problem in Beaucaire) and from Beaucaire, we kayaked under the Pont du Gard, and visited Nimes, Arles, Les Baux, and Avignon. It was quite a successful trip.Liza, Sunnyvale, CA Excellent! We all really enjoyed our two weeks in the apartment, which was very comfortable and well equipped. Fleur was very welcoming especially after a long hot day of travelling. The welcome pack, cot, highchair and especially the toys were very well received (Thanks Fleur). Renting the apartment from Tuesday to Tuesday was also great as it substantially reduced the cost of the flights. Broadband PC and phone were also very useful in keeping in touch with French relatives! Suggestions: 2 sets of keys would have been really useful, housing the cooking utensils nearer to the hob and a bread knife!Overall: Excellent apartment that is comfortable and well equipped. I've stayed at rental places before, both in the US and Europe, and yours was the one that felt most like home. The furniture, the dishes, everything felt good - neither too fussy nor too "rental-ly." We appreciated all the brochures and travel books. The location was great, and we were happy to have a central base for exploring from Avignon to Nimes to Arles and the Camargue.Carole, Luxembourg I've stayed in Beaucaire on two occasions already, once in summer and once in winter. Both times were extremely enjoyable. The apartment invites relaxation, and the town is a dreamscape of architectural beauty. I had wonderful, inexpensive meals in several restaurants within walking distance of the apartment. I hope to go back soon and often. Not only is the apartment spaciousand the view splendid, the kitchen iswell situated and stocked with gear, the amenities (Internet access, washing machine) all work fine, thebedrooms are private, and thelocation is quiet and perfect formyriad day trips in the Rhone region,Provence, points south such asNarbonne and north such asOrange.Walking distance to boulangeriesand to the Sunday market is abreeze, as is the distance to a coupleof nice restaurants and a fabulousolive oil production facility. And the owners make a cute couple! Thomas, NY, NY We enjoyed our stay very much a great part of the country, the apartment was very comfortable hope to visit again sometime. Thank you Bob :England: Bob Jones, England We loved the apartment (especially the art) and the terrasse, although it was still was a bit nippy at times. Your representatives were helpful and friendly. All around we had a satisfying stay. Many thanks, Barbara (Visited in March 04)Barbara Canada Beaucaire is a lovely unspoiled townin a wonderful location. Prettyamazing! The apartment is bothcomfortable and has character.
