Nestling in a tranquil river valley at the foot of a steep hill, this very special property was originally a water mill and has been sympathetically restored in perfect harmony with the natural surroundings.
In the main house, steps lead up from the well-equipped kitchen and attractive dining area to a comfortable salon. French doors open from the salon to a raised terrace with dining furniture and views or the river and woodland beyond; the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
A spiral staircase leads to the first-floor double bedroom which has a seating area, an en suite shower room and access to the garden via an external staircase.
The second lovely double bedroom and en suite bathroom are located on the ground floor beneath the raised terrace. This beautifully appointed bedroom suite has independent access from the front of the house.
There are two more beautiful bedrooms in la grange, and a second summer kitchen. On the ground floor, the second double bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and doors either side leading to the main house, garden and pool. Upstairs, there is an equally lovely twin bedroom with an ensuite shower room.
The heated swimming pool is surrounded by extensive lawned areas dotted with graceful willow trees. Six hectares of secluded grounds are bordered by the gently flowing river ‘Le Lavaud', completing the setting for this idyllic holiday hideaway.

Heated swimming pool (10m x 5m x 1.10m-1.80m) with integral steps and poolside lighting

The landscape is one of hills and valleys and is perfectly suited to walks, bike-rides, and horseback riding. Its distinguishing features are green pastures with Limousin cows alternated by woods, orchards, rivers and lakes. In the rivers and lakes one can fish for trout as well as pike, perch and other coarse species.

The property and service from La Perla exceeded expectations. If you are not happy with this property then there is no pleasing you!
The location was perfect for us, we only left site twice in a week. It was helped by the faultless weather which saw us only able to laze by the pool with a gin & tonic & stir ourselves to have a swim or to cook a meal. It is remote, no restaurants or shops within walking distance but if you want total peace & quiet away from traffic, neighbours or other tourists then this is the place for you. The fisherman with us was delighted by the river surrounding the property & with the crayfish he caught! The 4 ensuite bedrooms lived up to the pictures on the website, the beds comfortable & the pillows amazingly so. Everything we needed was provided from the cleaner, bath towels, pool towels, welcome basket & bottle of wine, chap to service the pool at least twice during the week to the torches and tea light candles, outside lighting along the river bank and around the pool. It was just perfect, If it wasnt for the fact that most of us already have plans in place for next summer we would have booked for next year immediately.
Our 6th visit to the Dordogne with La Perla, our 2nd in the 'Moulin de Coutille' (the best) ... Look forward to coming back next year.
The 'brand' lives, sixth time with La Perla, not disappointed - wonderful house, lovely setting with everything you need.
Our family has really enjoyed their stay - and the ages range from 17 to 85, so no mean feat! ... It's a shame it went so quickly.
What a wonderful place to spend our honeymoon! ... We will be back and will definitely use La Perla again for future holidays ... Don't want to go home.
Have seen some wildlife - a deer, a hare, the heron, the kingfisher, buzzards, long tailed tits, blue tits, yellow wagtails, lizards ... This is the second La Perla property we have stayed in and the standard of accommodation is very high.
