This magnificent townhouse is situated in the beautiful central square of the village of St Jean de Côle which is widely regarded as one of the loveliest villages in France. Surrounded by architectural masterpieces such as the Romanesque church and the 12th century Château de la Marthonie, the classical façade of Jardin de St Jean conceals almost 4,000m² of beautiful landscaped gardens and a large swimming pool with an attractive decking surround.

The grand style of the house provides elegant and spacious accommodation with ample reception rooms as well as large, well-furnished bedrooms, four of which have en suite bathrooms.

The accommodation is on three floors. The main reception rooms are situated on either side of an imposing hallway which leads straight through to a walled garden with dining furniture and from there to the extensive landscaped gardens and pool.

The magnificent grand salon adjoins the formal dining room and on the other side of the hall there is a second sitting room and a large, extremely well equipped kitchen.

On the first floor there are four large bedrooms, two of which have en suite bathrooms and two sharing an interconnecting bathroom. Two superb master suites have been created on the top floor, both of which have attractive beamed ceilings, fabulous jacuzzi baths, twin basins and large, separate showers.

In this exceptional property, the juxtaposition of old and new is pefectly managed to provide all the luxuries of modern living but with the character and room dimensions of an elegant 19th century building.

The surrounding area and amenities.
Much is written about the Dordogne, and most of it is true. Beautiful rolling countryside, forests, rivers, famous food and wine, splendid châteaux, tiny hamlets and of course, the site of the Hundred Years War Richard Coeur de Lion was mortally wounded here - so they say!

This region is rich in historic sites such as the famous Lascaux Caves, the stunning city of Sarlat and the fascinating bastide towns which run along the spectacular Dordogne river. There are many magnificent châteaux to be found throughout this beautiful area of France from Nontron in the north to Monbazillac in the far south. Périgueux, the capital town, has regular wonderful markets, excellent shopping and magnificent architecture. We feel sure you will enjoy the great charms of this area whilst staying in the comfort of one of our houses.

The property was in excellent decorative order and the facilities and location were better than expected. We have rented this type of property for many years as part of our family holiday. This is the first time that all the members of our family would like to return to the same property!
