La Petite Ferme is located in the historic village of Dampierre sur Boutonne. The village boasts a Renaissance Chateau and a 12th Century church. The area is surrounded by countless fields of beautiful sunflowers and fantastic birds and wildlife. The current owners purchased the former farmyard in 1998 to begin a new way of life and an adventure in France , leaving behind the crowds and the traffic of England . They have lovingly restored some neglected buildings into comfortable accommodation retaining many original features. A garden has been created where there was none and it all makes La Petite Ferme a friendly place to spend a holiday and somewhere pleasant to return to after a day exploring the region. Since 1999 when they had their first booking, the owners have made many new friends some of whom now own holiday homes themselves in the area. Some have even taken the plunge and made the move to live in France permanently.
The cottage is a converted farm building on two floors, plus a mezzanine floor. We have retained original features such as oak beams and stone walls, there is a wood burning stove in the living area and a heater in the bedroom making this a delightful cottage for winter as well as summer breaks.

We had a wonderful holiday our hosts made us very welcome and we are definitely going to return to LA Petite Ferme as soon as possible.
The pool was great and the boys didn't really want to go anywhere else, although there was plenty to see in the area.
We have just returned from a wonderful week in The Cottage. The weather was fantastic, the welcome was equally as warm. Terri and Mick were also able to accommodate some friends of ours in Lincolns Cottage, who were having a rain-soaked holiday in Brittany. Our children loved the pool - our daughter learned to swim during our time there, encouraged greatly by Terri. The only bad thing about our time here was that it had to end - we hope to return again with friends for another wonderful holiday.
The village was peaceful, the houses were beautiful, the food was fantastic, the weather was gorgeous!!
The only reason this booking was not rated as excellent is that The Cottage has a mezzanine with 2 single beds, which has very restricted height of about 4 feet and has very steep and unprotected stepladder to it. This mezzanine is definately not suited to adults and because of the dangerous stepladder style steps would not be recommended for children either. Therefore, The Cottage is for all intent and purposes a 2 person gite. The downstairs double room is excellent and stays nice and cool even in the hot sun. As a 2 person gite I would recommend highly for value for money and facilities. The swimming pool is fantastic, the location good, the owners very amicable and friendly and the swallows in the laundry room friendly also. The Cottage has a pation area which is in the shade in the evenings which was lovely.
We had a wonderful time the accommodation was perfect !! and the hospitality shown by the owners was the icing on the cake ! The holiday was perfect we will definitely be returning, and would recommend it to anybody that is interested in holidaying in France.
We have just returned from a wonderful week at the cottage. The accommodation was perfect for us, two adults and two teenagers. Eating outside on the patio was great.
The garden was a lovely place to relax. It was good to have the pool to cool off in. There are woods nearby for cycling and walking.
Nick and Terry we very friendly and helpful.
The week passed far too quickly.
