A rural village with wonderful walks and cycling. 10 minutes by car to Bram where you can hire a bike and cycle along the tow paths of the canal du midi. Bram also has a market on Wednesday mornings. There is also a market in Castelnaudary (15 minutes) on a Monday morning. The village has a small shop where you can buy fruit, veg, grocery, sweets, etc. We also have a butchers, bakers, post office, pharmacie, bar/restaurant, local medical centre.
Villa Alliston is an excellent house in an excellent location. Villasavary itself is a picturesque little town with a few food shops, a bar / restaurant and is within easy striking distance of numerous other towns and cities in the region.
The house is a real home from home. After renting numerous villas over the past few years I can definitely say it is the best equipped we have stayed in with everything seeming to be catered for.
The house is comfortable and surprisingly large. The garden is a nice size and the plunge pool useful for the long hot afternoons. There is a barbeque on the patio area and plenty of seating, and the fresh ripe figs from the trees at the bottom of the garden were a definite bonus.
Overall I would say this was the best house we have stayed in. Easy to find easy to use and the owners Christine and Mick are great and were very helpful. I would highly recommend a stay here if you are looking for a comfortable base to explore the Languedoc from.

Pleasant surprise from the off - wow. A very spacious and interesting house with lots of character. Had lots of fun on the pin-ball machine. The plunge pool was very nice, as was the view from the bottom of the garden where we would often sit on an evening, glass in hand, watching the sunset.
Spent most evenings dining on the patio as it was so lovely but there were sufficient places to eat within 20 mins drive. Lots to visit along excellent roads. Local people were extremely friendly as were the owners. Christine and Mick very helpful - thank you Christine for suppyling us with food and drink when we arrived later than expected.

Arrived at villa Alliston not knowing what to expect and found small terraced house on a narrow street.
We opened the door and could not imagine what we found !
It opened up into a 3 story house with fantastic views over lush green French countryside. A light and airy living room. Upstairs 2 large bedrooms and a space on the landing for another single bed which could be screened off.
The large kitchen had all the facilities you would need and led out to the private patio area and down to the plunge pool.
We have not done a holiday like this before and you could call it beginners luck (due to the vast choice) but Villa Alliston was fantastic and would recomend it and use it again.
A truly rustic French holiday.
Thank you Christine and Mick.
Thank you for your wonderful review, it was a pleasure to have you holiday in the house and we would welcome you back at any time. Warm regards - Christine and Mick

Very deceiving property, looks tiny from the front but is actually quite large once you enter.
Large kitchen with TV and a 1960's pinball machine that kept the kids entertained for ages.
Superb views from the rear garden.
Good location for discovering this region of France.
It was a pleasure meeting the owners Mick & Christine who were lovely. Their dogs Joey & Sally were very popular with our youngest daughter.
Thanks for the review, it was wonderful meeting you all and we hope you return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Villa Alliston. We were surprised at how spacious the living room & kithchen were. The selec tion of dvds, books games etc.. was great we always ended our night choosing one of these before bed time. The main bedroom ceiling is quite low if you are tall but this did not annoy us in any way. The patio, garden area were lovely and the pool was ideal - beautiful views of the countryside were ample from the garden & the walks from our village were lovely - head out early to avoid midday sun & bring water. We were privileged to see the sunflower fields in bloom, they were magnificent. It was very handy to have a butchers, bakers, general store & cafe in the village- Erics pizzas were excellent! Always check what times these open all the information is provided in the villa with plenty of brochures on places to visit, eat out etc.. We did 1000 kms of travelling to various towns, chateaus etc.. and recommend Lagrasse, Foix , Carcassonne, Mirepox, Limoix - the list is endless- it depends how long you are there for- we had a day of site seeing & a day off in the villa by the pool, it was so relaxing. Mick & Christine were the perfect hosts, anything we asked for or needed they sorted for us and left us to get on with our holidays, thanks again for everything . I am sure we will return to Villa Alliston in the future.
The pool was bigger than expected, even the house was quite big. Very nice view on the valley and there was everything you needed.
The house-owners live at the other side of the street, which is actually very handy if you need to ask something and they dont disturb you at all.
Nice house, nice location, good vacation.

About the owner
The house was purchase in 2003 and has been a holiday let since then. We have made many improvements, but in keeping with the 200 yr old house.
We have now moved to the house and are there to welcome our guests personally. During the letting period we move out of the house to the flat over the garage, so we are on hand should there be any questions.
We like our guests to treat the house as their own during their stay and many people have commented how homely and cosy the house is now.
