In 2004 we left the busy city life in the UK to retire in France. We chose the Charente Maritime area because of its warm climate, beautiful countryside and its wonderful coastline.
We live in a restored charantaise farmhouse which has been converted into three cottages, one of which is our home.
We are situated in a very quiet Hamlet surrounded by fields of sunflowers, wheat and maize and within a short distance of Aulnay with all local facilities including a supermarket, restaurant, bar, open-air swimming pool, tennis court, its famous Romanesque Church and Sunday morning market where fresh local produce can be purchased.
The lovely market town of St. Jean DAngely is within 15 minutes drive with many shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants offering French, Italian, Cantonese and Indian cuisine. There is also an indoor Leisure Pool, skate park, mini golf, river activities and go-karting.
Wednesday and Saturday mornings are market days.
