Just Released for 2020
Villa Petrochtisto (greek meaning: made from stone) is a charming traditional villa in the popular village retreat of Pomos in Polis District, Cyprus. The many antiquities are beautifully balanced with modern day comforts making this not only a home from home in the sun but one with traditional character as a reminder that you are not at home. The villa benefits from being just 100m from the coastline and sea with a choice of beaches in easy walking distance. It is also possible to walk to tavernas, shops and other amenities in the area meaning the use of a car although recommended can be minimal after arrival.
The stone built villa perfectly combines modern features and conveniences with traditional charm and quality which is sure to make it one of the most desired holiday villas in the area.
The villa is set in well maintained and designed grounds and has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, (en-suite to master), sleeping 8 (2 children can sleep on balcony ledges above beds in 2 of the rooms ). It has an 8m x 4m private swimming pool with roman steps, air-conditioning to bedrooms, wall mounted flat screen TV in lounge with Satellite & DVD, washing machine, dishwasher an open fire (for those cooler off-season evenings) large stone built BBQ, Kleftico/Bread oven, garden area for children to play (with swing), wireless internet/wi-fi and more.
The setting is both serene and spectacular with the rolling hills of the nearby forests and the not too distant sea giving views you'll remember forever. Pomos village benefits from some great tavernas the most famous being Kannali Fish Tavern which is by Pomos harbour and serves up the best catch daily. It is easy to reach the local supermarket, an atm and other basic amenities. Polis centre is a 15-20 minute drive away and where you will continue to find a taste of the real Cyprus. With its many restaurants, central square, supermarkets and other amenities it really is the best of both worlds. Latchi Beach and Marina are just a further 5 minutes drive away where you can sample local fish, hire a boat, do watersports or just relax on the soft golden sand.
There is much to see and do in the area including Santa Marina amusements at Ayia Marina, Baths of Aphrodite, Forest Walks and perhaps even a trip across the local border to North Cyprus.
DETAILS OF THE INTERIOR
After accessing the villa's grounds by large iron gates and covered driveway, the villa's front door opens into a large open plan space comprising the dining/kitchen & lounge. The cool and comfortable lounge has 2 distinct sections and is furnished with large corner sofa's facing the Flat Screen TV with Satellite & DVD player on one side and a more traditional relaxation area with seating in front of the open fireplace. The open log fire is a great advantage for those who wish some daytime sunshine and a cosy evening atmosphere in cooler winter months. The lounge has its own door leading out to the garden.
The dining/breakfasting kitchen is equipped with a table and four chairs. The fully equipped kitchen has modern appliances including, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, gas hob and extractor hood, microwave, coffee maker and other extras. The main door from the kitchen opens out onto the pool terrace which hosts a large picnic style table and benches seating 6-8 and on to the beautifully kept enclosed garden and private pool area.
A nice airflow is maintained by keeping the front door and patio doors open at the same time allowing comfortable temperatures even in the height of summer. Making up the ground floor is a cloakroom/shower room.
Moving upstairs and you will find 3 double sized bedrooms accessed from an airy landing and wide staircase with handrail. The master bedroom is a double bedroom with 4 poster bed and an en-suite shower room. Access from patio doors with wooden shutters is gained to a long balcony with seating to admire the wonderful sea views and sunsets and listen to the waves as they roll in gently to the coastline.
The second bedroom is a double bedroom and also has an adjacent shower room with half-sized bath. The third bedroom is also a double bedroom and as with the second bedroom hosts a quite unique but useful balcony/ledge above the bed which hosts a single mattress suitable for children. Steps lead up to the area and we would of course recommend caution but the ledge is fenced making it safe enough as deemed by the adult in charge.
All 3 bedrooms have air-conditioning, fitted wardrobes and shutters to doors and windows. The beds are of good quality ensuring a good nights sleep perhaps drifting off to the sound of the waves.
Wi-Fi connection is included in the rental price. A travel cot and highchair can be supplied free of charge on request. Other extras such as hairdryer, pool towels, books and games are also provided.
Mag TV box (for Premium Satellite Viewing including Sky and channels in German, Spanish, Russian etc)
DETAILS OF THE EXTERIOR
The grounds and beautifully kept gardens of 'Villa Petrochtisto' are accessed through a set of iron gates that lead into the spacious covered private driveway. There is ample parking at the rear and side of the house.
The outdoor grounds of 'Villa Petrochtisto' provide a choice of areas for relaxing, socialising or playing and a great alfresco lifestyle is available.
The centrepiece of the holiday villa's grounds is an inviting 8m x 4m private pool with adjacent terrace hosting the 6 sun loungers, picnic table, bbq and bread oven. Although there are other properties around the pool area is not in any way overlooked. The properties on the pool side are low level or below the level of this villa.
The spacious pool terrace is nicely equipped with large sun loungers that can take shade from overhanging trees or the parasols provided. The pool shower is a further benefit of this area.
A picnic table to seat 6-8 as well as large BBQ make it the perfect place for alfresco dining and socialising with your party on holiday. A traditional stone built Cypriot BBQ trough with Rotisserie is provided and the owners will more than happily show you how to use and make the traditional Cyprus Souvla which is a 'hard to beat' mouth-watering taste experience.
A useful outhouse hosts the washing machine and there is a patio to the side of the villa with table and 6 chairs which allows you to enjoy shade or sun as desired throughout the day.
Most of the outside areas afford spectacular views of the surrounding hillside as well as the Mediterranean Sea. The pretty flowers, shrubs and trees (including those growing fresh lemons) add to the atmosphere, making it the ideal place for relaxing in the sun or shade. Smartly positioned lighting ensures the outside areas can be enjoyed as much in the warm summer evenings as well as in the day time. The ambience in the evening really has to be experienced.
Pomos is a small coastal village with local supermarket, small butchers, bank, tavernas and coffee shops. The area is exceptionally fertile with the local farms growing tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries. The beach and coastline starts just 100m away and goes pretty much all the way to Polis. The beach is dotted with cafes and restaurants offering a variety of facilities from simple drinks and snacks to full lunches and evening meals. Every taste is catered for, a great opportunity to enjoy the local Cyprus cuisine.
Pomos has a small harbour for local fishing boats and a number of noted fish restaurants. Fresh fish? It was caught this morning… We recommend visiting Kannali fish taverna overlooking the small marina. Fresh fish, great food, great service, great value and it'll take you 10 minutes to walk home along the beach afterwards back to the villa.
A relaxed and quaint small town with every facility you might need including a large supermarket and a hospital. Polis is built around a small square with many restaurants and bars to suit every taste. Fancy a more interesting vehicle to explore the Akamas? You can hire off road buggies and motorbikes. On the edge of Polis there is a go-kart track for a bit of friendly (or not) competition with friends.
A fantastic centre for watersports and beaches. If you want to do it in, on or under water, head out to Latchi. You can be the wild one, or you can take it easy on the day and half day cruises along the stunning Akamas coast. Don’t forget your bikini and your snorkel. Latchi also has some fantastic fish restaurants, a great opportunity to tell the endless stories of what nearly happened while you were living it up in the sea. In the summer, there are two nightclubs to dance the night away under the stars and on the beach.
The Akamas is a wilderness nature reserve with stunning mountains, secluded bays and amazing beaches. With a suitable car you can right away from everything and everybody and lose yourself in the pine scented countryside, swim and snorkel in the bluest water imaginable and be at one with nature. Paphos Forest The mountains inland from the villa are known as Paphos Forest. You can explore interesting mountain roads and quaint traditional villages. You can head all the way up to the famous monastery at Kykkos – look out for the unique Cyprus moufflon as you go.

We loved the property. It was clean, comfortable and well stocked with all we needed. We especially loved the quirky design of the villa and the layout of garden and very welcome pool area. There was a welcome pack of essentials provided on arrival and later a gift of home made domaldes and baclava delivered as a gift.
Pomos was unspoilt and beautiful with amazing sunsets and mountain views. The small beach next to the harbour was accessible by road or along the shore giving an alternative to swimming in the pool. If long sandy beaches are desired then a couple of kilometres down the road fits the bill with friendly tavernas along the way. We tried several and enjoyed all equally. Food was fresh, reasonable and served by friendly people who went the extra mile. One of our party suffers from a severe allergy and every eating place understood and catered for her without any issues.
The near town of Polis has very good supermarkets and shops and driving in Cyprus was easy for us.
Most of the time we chilled by pool or sea just taking time out to eat at a local restaurant and apart from a drive up into the mountains we did little else however a boat trip to the blue lagoon is very recommended.
I can honestly say this was the best holiday I have had. From the very first outset of booking with the agent I experienced excellent service. We felt supported all the way and the advertising accurately described the property, process and made our stay easy.
Already our group have talked about going back to Cyprus and to the same villa Petrochtisto. If I could make one criticism it would be the furniture in the living room - very sparse. In the height of summer that does not matter but earlier in the year it would not be comfortable.

A lovely villa, well equipped and the air con in the bedrooms was most welcome and made sleeping easy. The pool was very welcome (essential in summer) and there were areas of shade around the villa most times of the day. The gardens of the villa were beautiful.
The local beaches are stone and shale and its fair walk to the nearest accessible beach area which are adjacent to a small harbour though there is parking right next to this location.
The local shop is not well stocked and the supermarkets are a drive away. The local fish restaurant next to the harbour is very good and well used but very little else locally, a car therefore is in my opinion, essential.
The local area is very quiet, watersports and other facilities are again a 20 minute drive away.
A local visited and gave us grapes from his garden, a very nice moment.
We have rented many villas in various places and would rate Villa Petrochtisto as one of the best. The villa was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The pool was good and the welcome pack with fresh fruit and all the basic necessities was much appreciated. We do recommend the nearby Kanalli Fish Restaurant, also snorkelling at Pomos Point, although reef shoes are a good idea because of the stony beach. We thoroughly recommend this villa.
