The house review is our opinion given without prejudice. Villa Mandra is nicely situated, the views are panoramic and Joulietta, the owner, is kind and professional. We saw her once at the end of our holidays. Her father greeted us on arrival. As a result we had tepid water, a heated swimming pool that was not 28c as promised (it was in the low 20c). On Wednesday Joulietta sent a professional engineer. Thereafter it was good. However we wasted 3 days of our holiday. We mentioned compensation, which was politely declined despite our request and not heat the pool. The Wi-fi was very very slow. One en-suite bathroom is small and cramped. All air conditioning is limited by timers to 6 hours and hot water was not on tap all the time - timer controlled - 2 hours max at a time.... 1970s style! Joulietta was kind to allow us to stay in the house next door until 18:00 hours on the Sunday of our departure rather than 11:00 hours, the normal check-out time. We enjoyed our time there. The sights and small villages are were scenic and a treasure for the best restaurants especially Miliou & Fity Luxury villa, in Greece, for me would be: http://www.ownersvillas.net/villa/elounda-luxury-villa-with-stunning-views-over-the-bay/l14 This villa is a shade below luxury for us. But could be very nice during the high season when temperatures are 35c+ and pool temp high.
We are pleased the guests enjoyed their time at Villa Mandra and we thank them for their complimentary comments.
Regarding the other points mentioned in the review we are pleased to offer the following observations:
It is regrettable that it rained for the first 3 days of this booking. This was quite unusual for that time of year. The swimming pool is spacious, 11m x 6m, so when a large body of cold water is introduced into the pool, for example, when it rains, it is very difficult to maintain an even temperature of 28-30 degrees C. Normally the pool heating runs for 12 hours per day, which is sufficient. In view of the 3 days of rain, we switched the pool heating to run 24 hours a day (at our own expense) to try and compensate. We are sorry the temperature could not be maintained at 28 degrees due to the unusual rainy weather but we did everything we could to minimize the problem.
The air-conditioners run on 6 hour timers which can be re-activated at the press of a button. This is a safety device as guests sometimes forget to switch off the air-conditioning. If a guest wants to run the air conditioner for longer periods they simply need to press the button for another 6 hours of air conditioning.
As for the hot water, the house has a gas boiler and solar heating also. Normally, switching on the hot water heating for 2 hours is sufficient, along with the solar heating, to provide hot water for the guests. If a larger party finds that inadequate, then they can simply switch on the heating a little earlier to ensure there is a constant supply of hot water.
We appreciate the honest comments of the guests, although other guests and the reviews below indicate the majority view this villa definitely as luxury. Joulietta is a very responsive proprietor, available 24/7, and gives immediate attention to any call from guests. At times there are delays in getting the skilled personnel to deal with an issue as we are subject to their availability and other demands on their time. We respond immediately in calling the service engineers although it is beyond our control if they have to put our request in a queue.
While we respect the view of these guests, we would just point out the other reviews on this site where guests overwhelmingly recommend this villa and certainly describe the villa and service as luxury and above. Future guests can be assured they will receive our normal 24/7 attentiveness when they book this villa.

My family and i stayed at Villa Mandra over the October half term. We had one of the best weeks holiday we have ever had.
The veiw from the patio/pool area is amazing and the website photos do not do it justice. The owners are very freindly and efficient and clearly wish for the customers in their villa to have a great time. The weather over oct half term was perfect. Highs in the high 20s and cloudless skys. Out of peak summer season you do need the pool heat which works very well. We had the pool upto 32 degrees which is warmer than my local public pool.
The food cooked and delivered to us by the owners really is as good as the other reveiws say. Particulary the musarka!
One small niggle was that the air conditioning (that was not needed during the day in oct) is on a two hour max runtime. This is clearly designed to stop unreasonable wastefulness but did mean that every 2 hours during the night, when it was needed, someone had to jump up and reset it.... Perhaps a diferent switching system for the bedrooms?
The acid test of how good the villa is..... we booked again for next year before we left!

Ready for War and Peace - read on.
For many years we had stayed at a specific hotel in Kato Paphos. Having suffered a somewhat sad demise in quality and service last year we decided to try out one of the many villas in the area. The intention was to return to that one again this year, but unfortunately (initial feelings) that wasnt available. Having scoured the various villa rental sites for what seemed like days upon days, we stumbled across this one, Villa Mandra. Booking both the villa (Rental Systems) and the flights (easyJet) at the same time was tense, ensuring that we got both.
Even at these early stages Joulietta was more than helpful, providing swift responses, clarifications and confirmation to questions asked, things were looking promising.
Booking a new villa, based upon reviews is helpful, and the comments already made on this site suggested an attentive and helpful local owner. This helped enormously in allaying any fears.
So, a few months go by with the children looking forward immensely to the holiday. We (our family of 4) were travelling with other family members (family of 5), and after a busy, packed day travelling to Cyprus and the villa, we were met by Joulietta and her father. The previous day had been a very bad storm in the area and as a result had caused some damage outside to one of the large pots and impacted the pool due to the amount of dust and dirt that had blown in. Can I just say that if you are ever worried about how it could be possible to be fobbed off by an owner suggesting things would get fixed, then nothing happens, you have no need to worry here. Jouliettas father replaced a large pot that had smashed within hours of it occurring. A long journey had meant somewhat hazy travellers, aside from the the children who all wanted to get in the pool. It was murky, but hard work on the part of her father over 24 hours had it clean and back to scratch. Cannot thank them enough in this regard, emphasising and showing us quality levels were safe and so on.
Joulietta gave us a tour of the house, showing us the amenities and how to use them. In terms of what the villa has to offer, it is just perfect. With two bedrooms at each end of the villa and more space downstairs, it is perfect to allow spacious living but also not so large that you feel distant from others there. In our previous villa experience, we had a level of disappointment with the cleanliness of some aspects, but here - at Villa Mandra, it was faultless. Perfectly clean, spotless in all areas, it really could not be faulted in any way at all. The kitchen was superbly equipped, and the outdoor BBQ was brilliant and made use of on more than one occasion. An abundance of both pool towels and bathroom towels, there was no lack of anything that was needed.
Thankfully, the children had no desire to go on the Wii, it would have been too much like home, but many games of table tennis were had by 5 of the 9 of us. A great addition to the house. Drawers of other games and things for the children were strewn around, very good and a welcome find.
Technology was superb too, big TV, Sky channels in abundance, more choice than at home for us - so this was great. Wi-fi was available too so this was good.
In terms of the outside pool area, just perfect for all of us. The loungers were numerous and comfy, the table and chairs for outside eating were of great quality, so many places only provide plastic ones, so these were very good.
The pool was just the perfect thing. We learnt one thing, there is no need for the children to bring inflatable toys, the house provides 1 (one) water volleyball - you just cannot imagine the demands made upon having that among the 5 children. Only advice, get more of them - :D, just kidding.
The level of attention from Joulietta and her father was first class, not intrusive, just genuinely concerned that we had a great holiday, at times having to cater for our needs over and above what you could expect from the owner, just top drawer stuff. If in any doubt about anything, their local knowledge is just superb.
It is a strange thing, to recommend a house you loved so much, you dont want it to be so popular that you cant book it again, but you want Joulietta to see the benefits that her and her fathers hard work deserves in creating an idyllic hideout in the hills. If you are not sure about booking a place in the hills, as you think you need to be near the sea, then think again, its just a short trip down to the coast, but once you are up there, you wont want to wander too far from home base!!
