Peristerona village centre is just 100m away from Rose Garden Villa and where you will find a taste of the ‘real Cyprus’. With its mini-market selling fresh (natural) organic produce, coffee shops and friendly locals, you won’t have to travel far to get the most out of your holiday. The nearby village of Steni (2km) provides a further choice of coffee shop and traditional taverna for dining during the day or in the evening. In nearby Lysos (5km) you will find a well known hotel (Paradisos Hills) with excellent restaurant, a further taverna, and a few other shops. Activities in Lysos include horse riding, clay pigeon shooting and many walks and mountain bike trails for those who like to be active. Peristerona is primarily an agricultural village producing citrus-fruit vegetables, cereals, olives and almonds.

The name Peristerona derives from the Greek word for dove or pigeon (peristeri). The church, St. Barnabas and Hilarion Church, has five domes on the roof arranged in the shape of a cross, a feature only seen on one other church in the island. Peristerona is always a very green village due to the lush vegetation. It all looks particularly special in winter and spring months and is ideal for photographers, artists and those who like to walk and even hike. It is also home to the famous ‘museum of Arsinoe’ showcasing a stunning collection of Byzantine artefacts. Slightly further afield, you will find further amenities such as supermarkets (3km), pharmacy, petrol station, and the more extensive choice of bars, restaurants, shops etc in Polis (8km). The nearest beach is at Latchi (12km) which is well known as one of the best on the island.

You can relax and sun-bathe on the golden sand by the crystal clear waters, sit in the marina and enjoy lunch eating the day’s fresh catch or for the more adventurous there is a great choice of watersports available for all the family.

My brother-in-law and myself had a great time at the villa. I cannot thank John and Angela enough. What a lovely couple they are. They we waiting when we arrived even though our plane had been delayed explaining everything to us. They then invited us to a festival in the village which we enjoyed. John could not do enough for us and told us to phone anytime, which we did. He can down on the Tuesday to see us and cooked us a lovely barbuque. We also met their lovely daughter. We had to have a gas bottle renewed and within the hour it had arrived. Words cannot describe what lovely people they are and we look forward to going back there next year. Special mention for Angela as I said I would. THANK YOU
Review submitted by Harvie from West Kilbride - (Submitted: 13/08/2012) "The property was excellent - looked exactly like the pictures. A very well designed layout with plenty of light and shade at different times of the day plus a choice of different seating areas for dining. A lovely verdant garden. Inside, everything was very clean with everything we needed. Rooms had air conditioning and/ or celing fans so it was always nice and cool. The only thing that was slightly lacking was the satellite tv service - english speaking channels seemed to be limited to bbc world news and euro news and as we were there during the 2nd week of the Olympics I have been looking forward to watching some key events live, which wasnt possible. A suitable entertainment channel would have been good too (e.g. for children coming in out of the sun). However we werent on holiday to watch television so this was only a very minor inconvenience and is only mentioned as a possible improvement. Apart from that it is hard to find fault. The location was excellent - very quiet place but it was great being in among native cypriots and although there are lots of holiday villas in and around the village it retains its own identity and leaves it to the nearby towns of Polis & Paphos to provide more typical tourist fare. All the restaurants we ate in were good quality, particularyly around Polis & Latchi with Yiangos & Peters Taverna in Latchi probably the pick of the bunch for service, for example offering advice on dishes and tailoring dishes to request. The owners, John & Angela, offer a very high level of service. Very friendly and approachable, they make sure they are at the property when visitors arrive to show them round the villa and provide some basic provisions to help get settled in. They were insistent on us calling them should we have the slightest problem - which we never needed to do. When John came by in the middle of the week to clean the pool and tend to the garden he brought greek pastries and it was more like the visit of a friend than a landlord. They were also very accommodating in terms of letting us stay on a little longer than normal to suit our flight time. I really cant fault it and would recommend it to anyone.
