Location Detail

Lysos is a traditional mountain village in Cyprus located only 14 km from the seaside town Polis Chrysochous, 15km from Latchi with its beautiful golden beaches and water sports and a 30 km drive from Paphos.

This picturesque mountain village is famous for its efforts to maintain the beauty and the traditions of Cyprus. At just under 500 metres above sea level the summers are a few degrees cooler than the fierce summer temperatures in the coastal towns.

In various locations around Lysos there are many remarkable landmark churches such as the church of Ayios Georgios built in the 13th century where frescoes of Saint Mama can be found and is still protected by the antiquities department. Churches such as Panayia Chryselousa constructed at the end of the 15th century with Byzantine and Gothic elements, Profitis Elias, Ayios Constantinos, Ayios Charalambos and the country church of Archangel Michael provide for a unique perspective of the village history.

With an abundance of natural water Lysos was used in Cyprus as an industrial area for the melting of metals. The fountain located by the church and built in the 1900s was made entirely of stone including the five taps of which were used to supply fresh drinking water.

Lysos is situated between the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea and some spectacular mountains filled with pine trees, fruit and olive trees, wild flowers and herbs and vineyards.

Lysos is home to a very good traditional Cypriot taverna, with neighbouring shops and the more widely known Paradisos Hills Hotel (50m away from Mountain Breeze Villa). Paradisos Hills Hotel is a small intimate hotel with only 15 rooms and a restaurant (open for breakfast, lunch and dinner) which serves only the finest Traditional Cypriot and International Cuisine. Most of the food is locally sourced and much of it is organic and the Sunday buffet lunches are now known Island wide. Paradisos Hills Hotel also have international evenings where guests and regular customers can experience something different and test the full range of its gastronomic skills.

Travel a little way (passing the pretty village of Peristerona) and you reach the larger village of Polis. There is plenty of activity to choose from, whether you wish to dine in one of the many good quality restaurants, have a coffee or lunch in the central square, hire mountain bikes, quad bikes or maybe even a boat!

The nearby Latchi beach is renowned as one of the best on this side of the island and not as crowded as the beaches in and around Paphos itself (which can be reached by car in 30 minutes or under). Latchi beach is famous for its clear blue sea, soft white sand and a great selection of watersports which are readily available. Take one of the boat rides to the ‘Blue Lagoon’, have a swim and/or snorkel, then come back to the pretty harbour/fishing port and have the famous ‘Fish Meze’ where you will be served approx 20 dishes including some of the freshest catches of the day whilst watching the world go by.

For the more adventurous, you can enter the ‘Akamas’ Nature reserve and go all the way round to ‘Lara Beach’ famous for its turtles and wonderful beach. If it is unspoilt Cyprus you are looking for, this is a great area to visit. You may even venture into the nearby villages of Miliou, Droushia and Panagia or further on to Kathikas (with its vineyards and wineries),. Other fantastic scenery can be taken in at Cedar Valley and the Troodos mountain range where in Winter, you can even ski!

Paphos airport is 40 minutes away by very good quality roads with English road signs. Visit Lysos and you won’t be disappointed.

From Bedlington, United Kingdom May 2013

This Villa was the best we have ever rented, it was presented to a high standard and had everything you would or could need. The pool was excellent and always clean, the outside area was very clean and was very well groomed. I will be visiting this Villa again.

From Prescot, United Kingdom Jun 2012

This is a truly beautiful villa, with first class facilities, in an idyllic setting.

Relaxing by the pool, taking in the amazing mountain view, was wonderful. Myself, husband and 2 young children had an amazing time. The villa really is a home from home with high quality facilities and the air conditioning in the bedrooms was a blessing.

We were welcomed at the Paradissos Hills Hotel (just across the road) for lunch and evening meals whenever we fancied a meal we didnt have to cook ourselves - the food was lovely and the setting, again, ideal.

We were greeted on arrival at the villa (and looked after all week) by the property managers. We were made to feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them.

I would recommend this villa 100% and wouldnt hesitate to return there. In Summary, the only problem with our stay was that it had to end!!

From Shaftesbury, United Kingdom Jul 2011

The villa was absolutely brilliant, met expectations and more. The location was ideal for what we wanted, eating, drinking, chilling out. We recommend Finikas restaurant, Polis & Archontariki Restaurant Polis. We were also very happy with your service, loved the almost instant conformation of booking then the e mail. Nitsa the owner was so friendly and helpful. We will want to book again for next summer.

From Datchet, United Kingdom Jun 2010

We could not have asked for a better villa and holiday. The villa was furnished to a very high standrad to give all home comforts within an authentic setting. having the culinary delights of the hotel just across the road was perfect. We explored the west side of the island inclusing Polis, Lathci, The Akamas and Paphos easily and would love to return again one day.

From Gloucester

This is a lovely, clean and spacious villas. It is well equipped and has all the modern equipment making it home from home. The air conditioning worked well keeping us cool on the hot sunny days we experienced. We all enjoyed and spent many hours enjoying the private pool and garden. The pool was cleaned twice whilst we were there. If I had to pick fault I would say the sunbeds were a little worn the covers of two were torn and the parasols were a little tatty as well. Also I had to share a twin room with my husband as the Kids and their partners bagged the two doubles. The twin room we had could really do with a dressing table, I struggled to find places to put my girlie things and had nowhere to sit and do my make-up or hair. Very minor issues which did not distract from our fantastic holiday. The villa is quite a way from anywhere, so a car is a must and be prepared to drive. The hotel across the road does good value food, we ate dinner and breakfast there, and were very pleased. We only saw a representative once, a lady by the name of Leigh, she popped in for a few mins to check all was ok. There is an information book in the villa which was very useful.

From Denholme

A beautiful property in good location with great hotel close by for breakfasts (recommended) and dinner.

The villa and pool are well designed, private with good furnishings.

We did not receive a welcome pack on arrival and the local dogs constant barking day and night spoiled what would have been a great property.

Reply from Letsrentonline Ltd

Hi Nicholas, Many thanks for taking the time to give us this feedback. We are very sorry to hear about the welcome pack and the dogs barking. We have taken steps to ensure this will not happen again for future customers. We are pleased you enjoyed the villa and holiday overall and we agree about the food in the hotel opposite. It is of very good quality. Many thanks again

Review submitted by Len from Kent (Submitted: 17/08/2015) ''The villa was excellent. The location suited us and the views of the hills were restful. The Paradisos Hills Hotel served us some great meals. Great personal attention. We had most of our main meals at various resteraunts throughout the two weeks and they were all extremely good. I was satisfied with Lets Rent On Line.Com, and all arrangements went smoothly. Local Managers/Owners were extremely kind and helpful during our stay. (Have to single out Helen our cleaner, she has a very pleasant and likeable personality. Very valuable asset for a company to client representative) Nitsa and John were very kind and brought us gifts of eggs and figs on a couple of occasions. The property and service were fine and the hire charge was fair''.

Review submitted by Arthur from United Kingdom (Submitted: 30/09/2013) Quiet location, clean with all amenities we required. Just what we were looking for. Large swimming pool and the pool area was ideal. Quiet location but still near the sea if you had a car. close to the mountains. Local restaurants were very good, visit to the mountains, Water sports was very good. Owners were very good and provided more than we expected.

Review submitted by Andy from Kingswinford - (Submitted: 04/08/2013) Thanks for dealing with all the admin and booking the villa. We have been home less than 24 hours and it seems like a lifetime away. We have had a fabulous time at the villa and are already thinking about where to go next year. The villa was clean and tidy, very well presented. Well equipped and spacious. The location is Very remote and out of the way. The views were stunning. Mike’s coffee shop in Lysos was most local shop/taverna but highly recommended for milkshakes and the kids loved the parrot. Mike is very friendly too. Watermill restaurant on way to Polis was very good value and food was excellent. Need to go to Polis for supermarket. Latchi was great for seaside restaurants. Highly commended agent service and very satisfied with owners locally also.

Review submitted by Fiona from Winsford (Submitted: 06/06/2012) "The villa was fantastic, very clean with a good welcome pack to get us going. In fact the the only thing it was missing was some plastic cups/glasses etc. for use outside. The location was stunning with breathtaking views of the mountains and the sea. The Paradisos Hills Hotel was in an incredible location with wonderful views of the sea. The buffet nights were good value for money and the food was excellent. The owners were all very helpful and welcoming. The Baths of Aphrodite were a perfect place for snorkeling and the beach quiet which was great. What can I say? You were brilliant! The communication was very professional and efficient, you were able to answer any queries quickly and the directions to the villa and supermarket that you provided were excellent. Nitsa and John were extremely welcoming and took time to show us around. They were always around if we needed them but without being intrusive and they gave us fresh fruit from their garden which was very kind and a lovely gesture which was very much appreciated.

Review submitted by Fran from Hertfordshire (Submitted: 30/05/2012) "The property was great, we could not have asked for anything else. Nitsa was very helpfull and welcoming. very good for babies and young children. A lovely quiet retreat. We would book through you again in the next two years. Many Thanks. Fran Baughen

Review submitted by Vikki from Newport-(Submitted: 26/09/2011) "Perfect. Beautiful villa, spotlessly clean, a perfect home from home. A little more remote from a local shop than we thought, but this didn’t worry us as we were looking for somewhere away from the crowds*. The Paradisos Hills Hotel is a god send, wonderful food, and great friendly staff. Perfect if you arrive late and want something to eat and drink. Very satisfiedwith your service, from the moment of booking, we felt we were kept informed and valued as a customer. The “how to get to the villa” instructions were perfect, we didn’t get lost once!! Nitsa and John were perfect hosts, welcoming when we arrived but not intrusive. We always felt they were just a phone call away and were more than happy to help with any questions we had. *Note*- There is a small shop open daily in Lysos and the supermarket in Peristerona has been refurbished and taken on by new owners. We still recommend larger supermarkets in Polis for larger shops and stocking up.

Well another wonderful holiday, the villa was fantastic, Holly loved the pool, we couldn’t keep her out of it!!Nitsa and her family were lovely they couldn’t have done anymore to help us, I was even supplied with nappies instead of buying more when we nearly ran out and they even gave us fresh grapes from their land!I would highly recommend this villa and we hope to be back next year, I will also add that the food and hospitality at the Paradisos Hills Hotel across the road was a real treat, well worth a visit. Many thanksVicky WilsonDirector
