Two bedroom house - Anafotia


This is a spacious, modern two-bedroom house situated on a small complex of eleven houses in the rural village of Anafotia, close to Mazotos. It is conveniently situated for Larnaca Airport and Larnaca Town. The house overlooks agricultural land and a young orchard to the front and the swimming pool (shared between only five houses) to the rear. The house is fully air-conditioned. All main rooms also have ceiling fans, which give adequate cooling except during the hottest season. There are portable electric and gas heaters for those cool winter evenings. Most windows and all patio doors have fitted fly screens. There is a family bathroom upstairs and a guest cloakroom downstairs.

The breakfast-kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances for those who enjoy self-catering. Equipment includes a halogen hob, fan oven, microwave oven, large fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher.

The lounge seats six and has a dining area at one end. The large settee converts to a double bed. There is a TV and Sky Freeview box which gives access to some English speaking TV channels and BBC radio. There is a DVD player which can also play music CDs.

Upstairs there is a double room with a king size bed and a twin room with two large single beds. Both rooms have built in wardrobes, providing more than adequate hanging and storage space. The double room has a small balcony giving good sunset views.

The Location
Anafotia is a traditional, friendly, Cypriot village in an agricultural setting, amidst low rolling hills to the west of Larnaca and has pleasing country views, including the spectacular mountain top monastery of Stavrovouni. There is a daily bus service to Larnaca from Anafotia, however car hire is recommended if you want more flexibility.

Within a few minutes walk of the property, there are three bars (one which serves food most evenings), a coffee shop, and a small general store. The countryside in and around the village offers some good walking – a relaxing way to work up a thirst for a beer at the local bar prior to your evening meal. The nearby village of Agkleisides has a wider selection of shops including a bakery, butcher, newsagent, two supermarkets and a petrol station.

The closest sandy beach is approximately five kilometres away, and has a beach bar and restaurant. Also in the same area is the famous Camel Park ( with camel rides, a small zoo, restaurant, and attractions for young children.

Larnaca is the nearest large town where all amenities can be found. The town offers a variety of bars and restaurants along its beautiful palm lined promenade, as well as Blue Flag beaches, a water sports centre, and a large marina where boat trips and scuba diving trips ( are available. The main shopping areas have many supermarkets, and large shops. Just out of town on the Limassol road is a cinema and bowling complex ( . Larnaca, as with all of Cyprus, has many places of historical interest ( . Just outside Larnaca, at Dromolaxia, is a large karting centre ( and near the village of Perivolia is a kite surfing centre ( . For those who are interested in wildlife, Larnaca’s famous salt-lake attracts large flocks of flamingos and other wading birds during the winter months – a wonderful sight.

Anafotia is ideally placed for touring all parts of the island, with approximate distances being:

· Platres (Troodos Mountains) – 80km
· Kyrenia (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) – 70km
Please note: It is possible to visit the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, but check with your car hire company first for their policy on taking their cars across the border.

Had a great week here last May. Property really clean and very well equipped and maintained. Pool shared by only a few others so we often had it to ourselves. Its in a proper village with local bar and excellent restaurant - few other toursists and local made us very welcome. Small supermarket just down the road. Very relaxing week.
I have visited this property twice, the last time being in October 2009. On both occasions I was impressed by the comfort and general facilities provided. It is ideally situated in a small village, off the beaten track, where one can experience the true Cypriot hospitality shown by the local people. I would be pleased to recommend this property to others.
We enjoyed a very relaxing stay in April 2006. Fittings and furnishing were to a very high standard - home from home-. A relaxed setting with all modern conveniences on the edge of a genuine Cypriot village. Local people very welcoming and friendly.
