Apartment overview - owner's description

This complex is in one of the most beautiful locations in Sozopol. Sozopol is rightly named the St Tropez of the black sea. Unlike other resorts it is neither over built or brash. Tellingly it is where the rich Bulgarians have their seaside retreats. Government ministers, football players and movie stars own property in this selec t area. More surprisingly is that while the area is for the rich and famous the prices are rock bottom. A three course lunch with a wine or beer comes out at under a fiver, and that at a first line restaurant overlooking the beach. There is probably nowhere else in Europe offering this value for money at such a location.

What makes on fall in love with a place? In short is probably location, location, location. Sozopol has been in existence for thousands of years and this development is situated next to Greek ruins circa 2,400BC. Even the ancients knew a beautiful spot when they saw one. There are very strict building controls in the area called Budjaka where the complex is located, height and building density are strictly controlled. The apartment will have its views forever, well maybe as long as the Greeks. The original developer/builder of the complex has a very keen eye for quality and detail. The area is very quiet and can be described as residential with more villas than apartments. At the same time the beach, restaurants and bars are all close at hand.

Food & Drink
The food ranges from traditional Balkan to sophisticated western European or exotic oriental. In other words there is something for everyone. Vegetarians in particular do extremely well as Balkan cuisine includes many delicious vegetarian dishes. Lovers of fish will also be spoilt for choice. Fresh water trout and salmon compete with Black sea turbot and shark as well as typical Mediterranean and Atlantic fare. Pork is the national dish and is very high quality being free range feasting on acorns in oak forests. Surprisingly this part of the Balkans is very green and unlike its neighbour there is no scorched earth due to stifling temperatures and forest fires. Fruit and vegetables are in abundance with many varieties growing very well in the rich Bulgarian soil.

Wine is produced in vast quantities and Bulgaria comes second to France in wine production. There are many fine local varieties which are unique to Bulgaria as well as Merlots Sharaz and other favourites. Be warned of the local spirit, Rakia. It can often be home brewed and is of indeterminate strength together with the very large measures this can be lethal.

Things to do
Definitely not just a beach, resort there are many things to see and do in Sozopol. Obviously there are a wide variety of water sports including diving and sailing. The national park is close by and riding and jeep safaris should excite the more adventurous. For lovers of nature this place is one of the most blessed in the whole of Europe. The most amazing sight to be had is in middle, end of August when the storks, in their tens of thousands spiral skywards to begin their yearly migration to Egypt for the winter. Rare Dalmatian pelicans can be seen around the fresh water lakes of Bourgas. In the national park all manner of wild animals abound, boars, elk, foxes and wolves. This area is one of the last of its type in Europe.
