Thanks to its golden sands, rich history and buzzing nightlife, Cyprus tempts thousands of holidaymakers from far and wide. Ironically though, Cyprus plays victim to its own beauty, as it can often be hard to escape the bustling crowds. Now, don’t do anything too hasty - there’s no need to cross Cyprus off the list! Hotspots like lively Ayia Napa may heave in high season, but if you’re looking to wander off the beaten track a little, then head out of town and take in the ‘real’ Cyprus.

Agros, Cyprus

Awe-inspiring Agros is one of the biggest villages in the Limassol district. It sits in the Troodos mountains, offering visitors the experience of life in an authentic Cypriot mountain village. However, this isn't the only string to its bow; it is most well-known for its abundance of roses. In fact, this sweet corner of Limassol is often referred to as 'the rose village', as it produces a plethora of rose-themed products, such as the famous Agros rosewater, plus various teas, candles and organic cosmetics. Time your visit right and you may even stumble upon the annual crowd enticing Agros Rose Festival – just don't forget to stop and smell the roses...

Pissouri, Cyprus

Picturesque Pissouri is a quiet south-facing village nestled between Paphos and Limassol. Its rural hillside location makes it the ideal location for anyone looking for family time away from the tourist traps. The village itself thrives, boasting several shops and tavernas, amidst other amenities. What’s more, you’ll be just a stone’s throw from the famous Petra tou Romiou aka Aphrodite’s rock. Peace and quiet + ancient history = a big thumbs up from us.

Pomos, Cyprus

Peaceful Pomos is a quaint fishing village, which warmly embraces a modest and simple Cypriot lifestyle. It is home to a small pair of beaches that straddle either side of Pomos’ harbour. Here, you can sink your teeth into a traditional seafood meze, or head 25 minutes down the road to Polis, which boasts family-run tavernas galore. Now, where to start...

Latchi, Cyprus

Lovely Latchi is a dreamy fishing port dotted on the northwest coast. It has a wonderful pebbled beach, relatively untouched by the bulk of mainstream tourists. Keen walkers unite - Latchi is only a hop, skip and jump from the spectacular Akamas National Park. Choose from four unique trails, and walk a mile in the shoes of a true Cypriot.
