3 Of the Best Honeymoon Hideaways in Greece
Your honeymoon is one of the most special times in your life and if you aren’t spending it in the playground of Aphrodite, then you’re missing out on a whole host of magical moments set against stunning scenery.
The real problem with Greece, of course, is with so many places to go and gorgeous places to stay, picking the ultimate setting in which to stare lovingly across at your beau can be a tough thing to do.
More to the point, because this is a one-time gig, you don’t want to feel like you’re battling with a million other holiday goers, you want special, setting suns and moonlight walks and your own little haven that feels untouched.
So, choosing could take you until your next wedding anniversary…
Luckily for you, we have handpicked some of the best honeymoon hideaways ever, leaving you time to sit back and peruse your wedding photos one last time.
Without a doubt, Kefalonia is one of the jewels of Greece, untarnished by tourism and full of little nooks just waiting to be discovered. If you’re looking for somewhere that can boast white pebble beaches, excellent restaurants and breath-taking caves only a boat ride away, then this is the place for you.
One of our best honeymooning properties in Kefalonia is the Villa Pessadon, built for two and located in Svoronata, just beyond the lovely little hamlet of Spartia.
Not only are you privy to breath-taking views of the Mediterranean Sea and countryside, but you will also have a private infinity pool, where you can sit and gaze out at the sea and enjoy the benefits of feeling truly tucked away with your significant other.
If you somehow do end up getting tired of your private view, then why not stroll hand in hand around Spartia only two kilometres away, where you’ll find some great little taverns and shops as well as a lovely quiet beach.
This luxury Villa is perfect for a tranquil honeymoon where you really feel like it’s just the two of you.
For a honeymoon that really feels like you’ve strayed off the beaten path, Messinia is like no other part of Greece. Famed for its olive groves and jaw-dropping mountainous landscape, Messinia has somehow retained its authentic feel and non-tourist vibe. Which is why it’s best you keep this one under your hat, because boy, does it have a lot to offer.
One of our favourite properties for two in this location would be Eden Cottage. Inside you’ll find there’s a charmingly rustic feel to the place and outside you’ll be surrounded by a garden that looks as though it has come straight out of a fantasy land, with olive and fruit trees set among gorgeous flowers.
When you finally manage to tear yourself away from your romantic retreat, it’s just a short walk to the local Zaga beach, where you’ll find nesting loggerhead turtles in the summer months and a beautiful view all year round.
If you go only a little further you’ll come to the town of Koroni, where you can find excellent waterside taverns to enjoy the local cuisine and plenty of other little shops and eateries to explore.
This truly magical cottage has so much character that your honeymoon is sure to be one to remember.
Corfu is one of the lushest areas of Greece and is typically known to be one of the livelier areas you can go to. Despite its bouncier nature and bustling atmosphere, there are still plenty of quiet parts for you and your newly-wedded companion to enjoy together.
One of our much-loved properties is situated in St Spyridon, a location North of Corfu and home to nature reserves, blue-flag beaches and some lovely local shops and eateries. The property itself, Spiridon Beach House, is a stunning modern backdrop that boasts a luxurious jacuzzi overlooking fantastic sea views and a bright airy living space to wine and dine in.
A little more modern and with so much to explore beyond your door, this is the honeymoon hotspot for those of you that want excitement in arms-reach, but tranquillity to come back to.
