House overview - owner's description

Welcome to my cosy home! Located in the residential area of Mangrove St. Philip, you can stay like a local on the island. We are a short journey away from Grantley Adams International Airport, and minutes from local shops and public transport.

A 3 bedroom house, the property accommodates up to 6 people, with all bedrooms located on the first floor.

The master bedroom overlooks the front aspect of the property and features an en suite bathroom, walk-in closet and balcony.

The 2 remaining bedrooms face the rear aspect overlooking the garden. One has a queen sized double bed, with the remaining room having 2 x single beds.

A separate bathroom serves these two rooms.

All bedrooms feature air conditioning.

The ground floor consists of an open plan kitchen diner and lounge and separate W.C. (toilet).

The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove and microwave and has cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment for your use.

The lounge has a television with a Netflix subscription.

Internet access via Wi-Fi is available.

The property also has a well kept garden with fruit trees and a gazebo where you can sit and overlook the garden.

You'll have access to all areas of the property* except two small storage rooms on the ground floor (under the stairs and next to the laundry area).

*Except where you've booked a small group (4 or less). I will check which bedrooms you'd like to occupy and will lock any remaining rooms not in use.

The local surround gives you an idea and chance to live like a local.

You're also not far from the beach and happenings in Barbados.

There are lots of beaches to choose from in Barbados with Foul Bay (7 mins drive) and the well known Crane (10 mins drive) the closest to where you'll be staying.

However if you want to go for a swim I recommend the beaches on the South/West Coast, the closest of which is a 15 minute drive from Mangrove. The sea here is calm and more suited for swimming. Miami and Dover beach are two located on the south coast.

For provisions the nearby Trimart supermarket in St Martins is a 10 minute walk away and has a range of items for a quick shop. There is also a larger supermarket based at Six Roads a 5 minute drive away. It's based within the Emerald City complex, which also has banks with ATM's, a large fast food outlet, petrol station etc.

For travelling around you've got a couple of options.

Local bus routes running close by go into Bridgetown, and Speightstown via the hotspots of the West Coast. And for $2 per trip it's a good option for seeing the island local style.

Nearby government run buses are:

16A (Bridgetown to St Patrick / St Patrick to Bridgetown) - This runs past the house and heads to the capital Bridgetown.

12A (Sam Lords Castle to Bridgetown / Bridgetown to Sam Lords Castle) - This bus has a stop less than 10 minutes from the property and is great for accessing the South Coast hotspots.

My kids always like renting a car as they enjoy exploring the island on their own terms. If this sounds like you I can suggest a hire company or two which you can use.

Getting around the island is a great experience whether by bus or car. From the bustling west coast where your're sometimes driving meters from the beach and sea, to the rugged and hilly roads around the east cost with views stretching to the ocean.

Please note that check-in is by appointment only between 2pm and 8pm on the day of arrival.

As our family home in Barbados we set up base in St. Philip wen my mum moved back to the islands. We are absed in the UK but family members travel to the house frequently. We enjoy the quiet residential street the house is located on, but also it's close proximity to shops and beaches. The house hasa nice cool breeze coming from the east on most days, which is perfect when sitting out front or in the gazebo out back.
