Features

Villa Interior

Great Room
As you pass through double doors, flanked by bronze pineapple sconces, you enter the Grand Salon Sala Manjer. Crystal Versailles chandeliers at either end of the room elegantly illuminate the tray ceiling. To one side there is a seated living area with comfortable sofas and lounge chairs, and French doors lead you to the adjacent gazebo with its soothing fountain. On the opposite side of the room is the dinning area, with a mirrored buffet used for elegant dinners and afternoon English tea. A plantation style desk unites these areas, allowing you to enjoy the tradewinds and the Caribbean Sea beyond.

The Courtyard
Large Mahogany louvered doors open onto the courtyard. The furnishings include upholstered sofas and chairs, and a dining/ game table. Ceiling fans with chandelier lights suggest the Colonial period. The focal point of the courtyard is a three tiered coral stone fountain with carved dolphins. From there you pass through gates leading to a patio surrounding the large swimming pool. Comfortable sofas, chairs, lounges, and sun umbrellas are found throughout the pool area for your comfort.

Kitchen
The kitchen is to the side of the house, adjacent to the media room, butlers pantry, and dinning area. On either side there are large work counters with a granite-topped center island. There is a large refrigerator with ice maker, a laundry room with washer and dryer, maid's quarters, and an herb garden.

Media Room
The media room/bar is outfitted with an LCD flatscreen television, Blu-ray/DVD player, stereo, and CD player, all installed in a custom designed cabinet. There is ample seating with an upholstered sectional sofa and chairs. A collection of videos, DVDs and CDs, as well as games and cards are provided. This room has a large bar suitable for cocktails and conversation, with an adjacent powder room for your convenience.

The Bedrooms
The villa has four bedrooms, each air-conditioned and professionally decorated to provide an elegant home. The rooms are named in accordance with the decor:

The White Room which is adjacent to the media room, has a queen size bed festooned with white sheers. Tropical bedside tables and a colonial style mahogany desk and chair, complete the venue.

The Polo Room contains two twin beds, side tables, a mahogany armoire, and a large bureau. The decor is decidedly polo. Mahogany pocket doors open to the garden and pool, with a view to the sea. This room has an LCD flatscreen television with a DVD player and stereo. These two bedrooms are located in the south wing of the house, and share a creme Marfil marble bathroom.

In the north wing of the villa there are two adjacent bedrooms with a center hall. The Princess Margaret Room is outfitted with two canopy twin beds, a flatscreen LCD television, and a DVD player. There is a private ensuite bath with marble counters, floor, and shower, highlighted with gold fittings. Skylights bring sunlight into the room during the day, and the moon and stars at night. This royal room dedicated to Princess Margaret, opens into a private Gazebo.

The Master Bedroom provides a queen size canopy bed with an India style carved headboard, along with large bamboo side tables - all of which give this room a decidedly international flair. Two upholstered wing back chair.

Location

Barbados is a truly phenomenal holiday destination, and geologically unique; a coral island, initially pushed from the sea as two separate land masses by volcanic activity many years ago. Over time these two land masses merged together creating the isle we now know as Barbados. Barbados lies on the boundary of the Caribbean and South American continental plates making it unlike any other Caribbean Island. Within the core of the island, made up mainly of coral sediment, numerous caves and underground lakes can be found. Arguably the most famous of these is Harrison's Cave; a network of caves, waterfalls, pools and fantastic stalagmites and stalactites.

Descendants of the indigenous Arawakan-speaking tribes tell that the original name for Barbados was ‘Ichirouganaim' meaning ‘red land with white teeth.' The reason for the later name Barbados is controversial; some believe that the Portuguese, en route to Brazil, were the first Europeans to come to the island. Others say that it was this Spanish which gave it the Spanish name ‘Los Barbudos'. The word Barbados means ‘bearded ones' but it is really personal preference as to whether ‘bearded' refers to the long, hanging routes of the bearded fig-tree (Ficus citrifolia) indigenous to the island; to the allegedly bearded ‘Caribs' who once inhabited the island; or, more romantically, to the foam spraying over the outlying reefs, giving the impression of a beard.

When visiting Barbados, the first thing you are sure to notice are the gorgeous and renowned flat white sand beaches. On the west coast of Barbados, miles of coral shore beaches and fine white sands stretch along a hypnotising turquoise sea. The West Coast of Barbados is also fringed with countless breath-taking Coral Reefs to provide excellent snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities. The South Coast also offers something for everyone, and is a curious mixture of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Here you can swim in calm waters, snorkel over the inshore reefs and tidal pools, and at the southernmost tip of the island, you can windsurf.

The East Coast of Barbados has fantastic and lively surfing opportunities, blown briskly by the strong and constant trade winds; the constant breeze of these trade winds give Barbados its mild and pleasant tropical climate. Along the east coast, huge Atlantic waves crash along the shore and so the beaches are better suited for walks and sun-bathing, with a few enchanting places to have a dip in the sea – as the waves break over rocks and reefs, small pools are formed close to shore forming delightful natural swimming pools!

Inland Barbados is delightful to explore, enchantingly quiet and rural, there are endless fields of sugar cane dotted with old plantation houses. Barbados has a rich and interesting history and has preserved and restored many of its historic buildings – you can visit a plantation house for a trip back in time, see the towering lighthouses that once led ships to safety, or explore the historic towns that are an important part of the island's past and present.

Whilst on Barbados, a taste of the island's rum is a must! The isle has been producing rum for over 350 years, and it is recognised internationally for its quality. Many tours and taste sessions are available at the local distilleries.
