Apartment overview - owner's description

Self-catering studio apartment in Gosau / Dachstein ski area, near Hallstatt, with wonderful facilities and spectacular views. Balcony, free use of pool and sauna...

Our apartment is located in the private wing of a leisure hotel complex, on the 3rd floor on the south side of the building. It faces up the valley towards the spectacular Dachstein mountain and ski slopes, and is surrounded by grazing pastures. Dining on the balcony in summer is a joy with a romantic atmosphere created by the tinkling cow bells and church chimes as the sun shines till dusk.
The apartment is reached by a lift and is bright and spacious, consisting of a large room with the twin beds at the rear facing a large wardrobe, with the large sofa and dining table at the front with its large window, and balcony, looking up the spectacular valley. There is a small modern kitchen, with halogen hob, fridge, etc, but no oven, and a bathroom with an always hot shower above the full size tub, WC and basin.
Downstairs, is the hotel bar and restaurant, which our guests can use with advance notice at the Owners' special rates. Guests have free use of the indoor pool and sauna, games room and garden terraces, plus the ski-bus in winter. Other facilities must be paid for: The Wellness Centre, Tennis Hall, Guided Tours, etc.
Gosau is an idyllic mountain village in its own valley, which features the awesome jagged peaks of the Gosaukamm mountain ridge next to the majestic Dachstein mountain. It has a glacier on top and it can all be viewed whilst walking around the lake below, or from up on the Zweiselalm plateau opposite, where there are several hut restaurants with terraces to admire the view.
Hallstatt nearby, just outside our valley, is a major tourist sight, and features a mountain side village with historic salt mine and other caves. St Wofgang and Bad Aussee where Austrians wear traditional dress, are worthwhile places to visit, making a week a good minimum stay.
Our place is perfect for couples of all ages, enjoying active or lazy days by the gorgeous lakes or up on the mountain trails - and for skiing in winter.

Private Owner From Great Yarmouth, United Kingdom Member since Jan 2015

I am English, the son of a ship-broker, have four siblings and grew up in Surrey. I went to boarding school in Malvern, and then went to London after college in Bristol. I worked in Publishing mainly, on magazines, with six years on RUNNING Magazine which fired up the running/fitness revolution, and my responsibility was the Advertising from the kit suppliers and charities. I moved out of London after 17 years, in 1989 upon my first marriage to a girl from Norwich, and became a father to a daughter, Freya. I worked on contract magazines (For Center Parcs, Veuve Clicquot and The CCTV User Group) until 2005 when I started up my own business hiring and selling marquees and gazebo event tents with BUDGET MARQUEES. I have developed this with a number of agency selling products and am still at it (2015). I divorced in 2000, but soon met Carol and her three children, and we moved from my lovely riverside Broads village to the seaside at Gorleston-on-sea, where we have splendid sea views in front of us. We bought our Gosau apartment in 2010, and have been letting it out when our own family and friends are not there. Letting it allows us to keep it updated and in good order, whilst giving us spending money on all our holidays.
